For the past several years, I have attempted to keep a web page notifying parents and students of what we do in class. When possible, I have even posted the handouts in digital form

The intent of the blog was to allow students to see what we have missed when they are absent and allow parents to see what activities we do  each day. Unfortunately, the blog has not been successful so far. To this point, not a single student has completed makeup work using the blog as a resource. As a result, I am suspending my posts, because the work is not commensurate to the reward.

Today, we…

• visited the media center for the last day of preparation for the market research projects.
• or rather, I, conferenced with Ms. Tome about her paper. Unfortunately, Mr. Reeder, whose paper I graded was at a student government meeting all period.

Homework: Continue revising rough drafts.

Today, we…

• took the L to J quiz and scored a 60%. As a result, we will celebrate next week.
• continued filming scenes for our movie trailers.

Homework: None

Today, we had the senior group photo during the class, so we only had time to take the L to J quiz and discuss possible decorations for Spirit Week.

Homework: Continue constructing the rough draft of the comparison/contrast essay.

• visited the media center to work on the questionnaires for market research.
• (or I, rather) conferenced with Durham, Shepherd, and Yeatman about their rough drafts.

Today, we…

• continued rehearsing and filming our Mythology movie projects.
• started reading The Lightning Thief and completing the worksheet detailing myths related to the novel. Any parents viewing this, please know that the novel is something they should read whenever they have downtime with their movies. For example, if they are waiting for a camera, then they should read the book.

Today, we…

• finished some exercises on sentence fragments.
• worked on the pre-writing sheet for the comparison/contrast essay and began our rough drafts.

Homework: Finish the rough draft of the essay.

Today, we visited the media center to construct our surveys for the market research projects and to plan the product testing.

We worked on our Mythology Movie Projects. Tomorrow, some of us will be filming outside.

Homework: None

Today’s activities:

• We worked on run-ons and sentence types by completing worksheets.
• Unfortunately, there was a Senior Executive Board meeting, which decimated the class, so we did not get much else done today.
